As with the other pages, the Business Report was intended to give a quick take of stories in this sector. We asked several journalists to adopt this page and keep it updated, but found none who followed through. Eventually, we decided to produce the page ourselves and we managed to keep it updated weekly or forthnightly for most of the time it was on the web.

We had hoped to ultimately use this page as a gateway to other online business news publications in Jamaica. But by the time this page was pulled from the web there were few places to link to that could give browsers thorough coverage of business news in Jamaica. The brief items below were on the page when it was last updated in 1998.

National Commercial Bank has put up for sale Fantasy Resorts and Dolphin Grill Restaurant in Montego Bay, a sign that owner Dennis Morgan could not save the properties. Under pressure from creditor banks that it owes millions, Caribbean Steel is now suing customers to recover $70 million it says it is owed.
Victoria Mutual Building Society has joined Trinidad and Tobago's Royal Bank to bid for CitizensBank and Eagle Commercial Bank. In what appears to be a move to generate sales in a flat real estate market, Life of Jamaica says it will discount prices in two real estate developments.
