What’s the value of Twitter to a business these days?

Published: June 25, 2009 - 8:46pm

Still wondering how to use Twitter to bring value to your business? Well, Venture capitalist Fred Wilson, an investor in Twitter, says he has at least part of the answer. Wilson says it’s all in the power of what he calls passed links.

Essentially, Wilson believes twitter equals traffic, because tweets usually have links in them that are typically minimized by using sites like bit.ly and tinyurl. Since the person sending you the link is likely a trusted source – an assumption we make if  you are following them – users are more likely to click.

Many companies worldwide are seeing a growth in the source of traffic coming from social networking sites such as Twitter and Facebook.
