Dr. Richard L. Bernal gets Panmedia Salute for lifting Jamaica's profile
We give our 4th Panmedia Salute to Dr. Richard L. Bernal, who is currently the Alternate Executive Director of the Inter –American Development Bank. In his commencement speech at a graduation ceremony at Northern Caribbean University’s Mandeville campus recently, Dr. Bernal urged the powers that be to sell Jamaicans as a nation without borders.
PSOJ Corporate Social Responsibility
Corporate Social Responsibility here has just gotten a great big push from the Private Sector Organisation of Jamaica. The PSOJ is asking business to support six programmes that are likely to make a discernible difference. The initiative is titled Imagine Jamaica.
The programmes were presented to PSOJ members using a multi media documentary produced by Panmedia. PSOJ asked its members to elevate their CSR through Imagine Jamaica to help national development and ensure business success.
DBJ To Launch New Website
Emerging markets like Jamaica need economic growth and development to generate jobs, enhance infrastructure, and give citizens a better quality of life. Access to capital and credit brings such opportunities through the affordable financing the Development Bank of Jamaica provides.
Now the DBJ gets a chance to highlight its work and promote its products and services online. The Bank has awarded Panmedia its new web site design and development.
Getting Up Close and Personal in New Kingston

We have moved into new and larger offices at 10 Argyle Road, just down the street from Jamaica Trade and Invest, and Red Bones Blues Café where we celebrated our move to New Kingston last week.
Nicole Smythe-Johnson's Style and Energy
By the nature of what we do we see young people often on the up trajectory of their careers and aspirations. So we are accustomed to our brightest heading somewhere in the universe that will also nurture them. We are happy to have caught some of their genius and always wish them well.
So too we must with writer Nicole Smythe-Johnson, who brought her own style and energy to Panmedia although we didn’t have her company long. We share her joy in her acceptance to the London School of Economics for the 2008/2009 academic year.
Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture
This month Panmedia begins communications support to the Jamaica office of the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture. We are developing a strategy for the Institute to connect more directly with its stakeholders and give the public a better understanding of its role in Jamaica’s agriculture.
Since the 1970s, IICA has been working to make that industry here sustainable.
Panmedia launches website for The Mill Press
This month Panmedia launches a website for The Mill Press, a project that had its beginnings ten years ago. In 1998, we were so impressed with The Mill Press’ preservation of Jamaica’s historical heritage, that we designed a demo site for Executive Director Valerie Facey. She liked the idea, but believed then that The Mill Press was not yet ready to go online.
The new site features work The Mill Press has produced since it began 20 years ago, but its special focus is on the soon to be published Jackie Ranston’s Belisario – Sketches of Character – A Historical biography of a Jamaican Artist.
Panmedia SSL Certificates
Starting this month Panmedia will provide affordable SSL Certificates as an Authorized Reseller of GeoTrust. We are offering three distinct options for clients to secure their web and mail servers.
- RapidSSL is a low cost certificate that is suitable for serving internal audiences (e.g. securing CMS logins or email servers). It is not recommended for public facing websites.
- GeoTrust QuickSSL is suitable for public facing sites with a low volume of traffic/transactions.
- GeoTrust QuickSSL Premium is recommended for high impact or high volume websites, particularly for e-commerce websites.
Factories Corporation of Jamaica with space to show
Jamaica’s white sand beaches and gorgeous countryside are what brings most visitors to the island. But our resort towns are not the only attraction for foreigners. Some people come to Jamaica to do business. The island is home to several call centres and other IT related foreign businesses.
Marlon Maulsby visits Panmedia
We often look for opportunities to explore new talent. One way we do that is to bring someone in for a few weeks to see what they’re made of.
So we invited Marlon Maulsby to join Panmedia for the Holiday Season. The web developer had already spent three days with us last month honing his skills for the WorldSkills International Competition in Shizuoka, Japan, recently. We liked his enthusiasm and enjoyed his industriousness.
