Paho LogoWe spent a rewarding time recently with the Pan American Health Organization. Before moving on to Barbados and Trinidad, a PAHO production team visited Jamaica to shoot video for a short Heart Health feature.

Dr. SamuelsDirector Ary Silva, videographer Manuel Calvit, photographer Nolo Oyeleye and Jamaican born Dr. Alafia Samuels, the Project Head, seemed comfortable with Kingston’s pace and energy.

Panmedia was helping PAHO with pre-production that included film commission authorization, customs waivers, location-scouting, casting talent, props, make-up, transportation and food. We also acted as script consultants.

The 10-minute feature aims to inform Caribbean people of the dangers, symptoms and prevention of heart disease and how diet and increased physical activity can reduce the likelihood of developing heart disease.

The video shoot was the first of a two-part project awarded Panmedia after a competitive tender, involving leading Caribbean agencies.  The second part of the project is to write lyrics, music and produce a heart health jingle for the Caribbean.

The PAHO project is the most recent of several health-related advertising productions awarded Panmedia in the last year.  We are currently producing anti-smoking and physical activity campaigns for Jamaica’s Ministry of Health.

Founded in 1902, PAHO works with the countries of the Americas to improve health and quality of life and serves as the Regional Office of WHO.
