Do you wish your TV was a bit smarter? Well, you’re in luck. Samsung has taken the boring out of TV with the launch of inTouch, an Android-powered accessory that expands the web functionality on older model HDTVs without networking capability. The inTouch system lets you Skype from your television using video chat. You can also browse the web and connect with YouTube, Google News and Weather. The camera has Wi-Fi built-in along with 720p high-definition video and a range of pre-loaded apps. A USB port lets you hook up a digital camera or memory card and upload photos; alternatively you can upload them, through the inTouch, to YouTube, Flickr and other sites. Connectivity to an HDTV requires a single HDMI cable. "Not every household gets to experience this fun and interactive feature, especially if they have an HDTV purchased just a few years ago," says Mike Palazzolo of Samsung Techwin America. "With the inTouch camera system, Samsung is now bridging the gap between this experience and those consumers who own HDTVs without networking capability." InTouch comes with a compact QWERTY keyboard for email writing, instant messaging and easy navigation on the big screen. Samsung’s latest home entertainment gadget goes on sale in March.
