Restaurant Week didn’t always offer many choices for vegetarians. I have had to ask chefs to whip up something for me in the past. But that has changed lately, and more often now smart restaurant owners are catering to my demographic. From the menus I have seen and from my past experience dining out the rest of the year, I suggest my three top choices for vegetarians who want a meal they can enjoy this Restaurant Week.

Saffron

Previewing their delicious fare a few days before Restaurant Week, I was pleasantly surprised by the elaborate menu Saffron offers vegetarians this year. My Veg Platter for a starter was almost bigger than my place mat. The tasty Lentil and Rice Crepe held tender and moist spicy potatoes, complimented with an aromatic Grilled Broccoli.  Saffron also gives vegetarians a wide entrée choice, all of which I tasted and enjoyed immensely. They are all dishes to die for, so close your eyes and order any of them: Basil Tofu, Vegetable Makhani or Green Thai Curry Vegetables.

Grog Shoppe

The best vegetable soup in town can be found year round at Grog Shoppe. So it’s no surprise that it is included as an appetizer for Restaurant Week. If you prefer a salad instead, the menu offers the Caesar’s Salad with Parmesan Cheese Croutons. Grog Shoppe always does a good pasta, and this Restaurant Week the Devon House eatery features for one of the main courses its Vegetarian Penne Pasta, a tasty dish I have enjoyed many times.

Caffé Da Vinci

Caffé Da Vinci doesn’t disappoint the vegetarians who want delicious food. They offer for an appetizer a lovely Eggplant Caprese Salad that will leave you licking your fingers. The item on their menu that will entice vegetarians is a delicious entree that even meat lovers would enjoy: Homemade Gnocchi & Walnuts.
